An article published in the April 2008 issue of the Journal of Advanced Nursing (JAN) titled, Turnover intention in new graduate nurses: a multivariate analysis, studies the relationship of new nurse turnover intent with individual characteristics, work environment variables and organizational factors.
From data collected over the course of seven years from pediatric nurses who participated in the Versant RN Residency, the study concludes that when new graduate nurses are satisfied with their jobs and pay and feel committed to the organization, the odds against turnover intent decrease.
