Charles Krozek Named American Academy of Nursing Fellow

Krozek Recognized for Outstanding Contributions to the Nursing Profession

Los Angeles - Charles Krozek, MN, RN, Co-Managing Partner of Versant, has been named an American Academy of Nursing Fellow.  AAN is comprised of the nation's most accomplished leaders in nursing education, management, practice and research. A nationally recognized nurse leader, Krozek created Versan in 2004 to help hospitals retain quality, dedicated nurses.  Versant is modeled after the successful RN Residency in Pediatrics that Krozek spearheaded at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles in 1999 and is now deployed at Adult and Pediatric acute care facilities throughout the country.

The Versant RN Residency provides hospitals with an outcome driven, standardized training system to ensure that uniform clinical standards and best practices are mastered by novice nurses transitioning into competent, professional RNs. To date, more than 70 hospitals nationwide have implemented the Versant RN Residency and 4,085 new nurses have graduated from the program. Across Versant’s network of hospitals, first year new graduate turnover has decreased from over 28 percent to 6 percent annually.

Under Krozek’s leadership, Versant recently announced the new Versant Analytics initiative, designed to make greater contributions to hospitals’ clinical and financial outcomes. Versant Analytics leverages Versant’s unique model and database to help hospitals develop a competent and confident nursing staff and retain the best nurses, thereby promoting nursing excellence and positively impacting clinical and financial results.

Krozek is an established author and speaker and has served on the editorial advisory boards of several nursing journals, including Journal of Nursing Staff Development. Krozek also received the Association of California Nurse Leaders’ 2005 award for Excellence in Advancement of Clinical Practice in recognition of his significant contribution to nursing education and research.

“I am honored to be recognized by the American Academy of Nursing for my contributions to the field of nursing,” said Charles Krozek, MN, RN. “I have specialized in education and research for the last 19 years and have been intimately involved in nursing advocacy. I look forward to working with the Academy and its Fellows to further advance health policy and practice in the U.S.

"The Academy is comprised of many of the nation's top nursing executives, policymakers, scholars, researchers, and practitioners,” said Academy President, Pam Mitchell, PhD, RN, FAAN. “Mr. Krozek's selection as an Academy Fellow is an important recognition of one’s contributions to nursing and health care.”

Selection criteria include evidence of significant contributions to nursing and health care. Each nominee must be sponsored by two current Academy Fellows and is judged on their contributions to nursing and health care. Krozek and other nurse leaders will be inducted as Fellows during the Academy’s 35th Annual Meeting & Conference, on November 8, 2008, in Scottsdale, AZ.
